Currently the game supports casual and tournament play. With a fairly robust community around the world and plenty of online community via discord channels, it isn't difficult to strike up a conversation with another player.
It is worth addressing however, that because of the games many releases, it does have some balance issues but the game is still very playable. This of course creates a 'meta' regarding what units are 'must haves' and of course what units hardly ever see play.
